The first study that connected the several correlative dots, i.e., Nox3 expression in the cochlea, per se [355], genetic correlations of noise-induced hearing loss with Nox3 [650,751], increased ROS levels in the cochlea as damaging factors [470,539,651,673,686,687], induction of ROS production by noise exposure [667,690,700] and the subsequent hearing loss, was conducted by Mohri and colleagues [462]. This evidence concerns the gene NOX3 and hearing loss disorder.
