Considering that Il-1β serum levels are increased in only about 10% of individuals with monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) [194] and given the role of IL-1β in the pathogenesis of multiple myeloma (MM) [195], it can be proposed that NLPR3-driven IL-1β production might drive the neoplastic phenotype in a subset of MGUS cases. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and Miyoshi myopathy.
