In acute myeloid leukemia (AML), activation of phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt and mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathways leads to enhanced glycolysis and increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in myeloblasts [25,26].
