Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) (recall Figure 7) is a pathological condition that can be characterized by microvascular thrombosis and can occur due to mutations in or the inhibition of ADAMTS13, which might lead to bigger vWF multimers, thus promoting the unregulated formation of platelet thrombi [78,79,80]. The gene discussed is VWF; the disease is thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura.
