INS and gallstones: [7–10] The rising incidence of obesity and metabolic syndrome is correlated with an increase in gallstone formation.[11–13] This relationship was further confirmed by the involvement of insulin resistance and systemic inflammation.[14] Transabdominal ultrasonography remains the preferred detection tool for gallstones, with a sensitivity of 84% and a specificity of 99%.[15–17] However, its efficacy can be compromised under certain conditions, particularly for stones smaller than 3 mm.[18,19]
