Besides its involvement in NDDs, BCL11B was previously linked to neurodegenerative diseases, such as Huntington’s disease, schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which indicates a role of BCL11B in the maintenance of functional neuronal connections [78,79,80,81]. Here, BCL11B is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
