Nitric oxide has previously been implicated in mediating recovery from myopia since intravitreal administration of the non-specific nitric oxide synthase inhibitor, L-NAME, temporarily inhibits the choroidal and scleral responses associated with recovery from induced myopia (38, 75) and intravitreal delivery of the NOS substrate, L-arginine or a nitric oxide donor (sodium nitroprusside; SNP) significantly inhibits form deprivation myopia (76). Here, NOS2 is linked to myopia.
