EGFR and cancer: As Glazer et al. demonstrated, cetuximab is capable of effectively targeting EGFR-positive cancer cell lines in vitro (Glazer et al., 2010) and then inducing thermal ablation of malignant cells through a photothermal effect brought about by the heat generated by metal nanoparticles upon exposure to non-ionizing radio-frequency energy (Bazak et al., 2015).
