ADA and cancer: A different example of the ADA/CB[n] use in bioimaging is a recently reported supramolecular assembly that was based on a purely organic light-harvesting phosphorescence energy transfer (PET) in an aqueous solution.259 It consisted of a pyridine modified β-cyclodextrin (CD-PY) as a donor, CB[8] as a mediator, rhodamine B (RhB) as an acceptor, and hyaluronic acid modified with the adamantane subunit (HA-ADA) as a cancer cell targeting agent (Fig. 37).
