The tightly regulated processing of p100 for p52 generation is also aberrantly activated, independently of its genetic mutation, in certain cancers, such as multiple myeloma, adult T cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) by the oncogenic virus human T cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1), as well as Kaposi sarcoma and several other lymphoproliferative disorders induced by Kaposi’s sarcoma herpesvirus/human herpesvirus-8 (KSHV/HHV-8) (18, 47, 48). Here, NFKB2 is linked to Kaposi's sarcoma.
