INS and chronic kidney disease: Statistically significant predictors of higher log U-TXM included female sex, older age, current smoking, type 2 diabetes, especially when treated with insulin or oral hypoglycaemic drugs, higher body mass index, urinary albumin/creatinine ratio of ≥3 mg/mmol, higher estimated glomerular filtration rate (calculated from blood cystatin C concentration using the Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration formula26), no use of aspirin before screening, lower high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and lower systolic blood pressure (Table 2).
