SCN1A and epilepsy: In addition to the cortical and subcortical areas which showed reduced volume in patients using Freesurfer software with manual correction22, the both thalamus, right pallidum, right lateral orbitofrontal, right paracentral, right inferior parietal, left Banks of the STS, left parahippocampal, and right insular cortex were significantly smaller in patients with SCN1A mutation related epilepsy compared to those of healthy controls in this study.
