GPT and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: Figure 1A and B show that the levels of serum ALT and AST in HFD-fed mice were significantly higher compared with mice fed on a CD, indicating serious IRI. Puerarin pretreatment markedly decreased the serum ALT and AST levels at both doses. H&E staining showed more edema, sinusoidal congestion, and necrosis in HFD-fed mice, while the necrotic areas were reduced by puerarin pretreatment (Figure 1C). In addition, TUNEL staining showed that HFD also exacerbated hepatocyte apoptosis, a direct result of IRI damage, especially in NAFLD (Figure 1D and E).
