INS and type 1 diabetes mellitus: At baseline, insulin levels were higher in people with type 2 diabetes (250 ± 74 mE/L) when compared to their matched control group (23 ± 9 mE/L, p = 0.002) and to people with type 1 diabetes (114 ± 19 mE/L, p = 0.005), who also had higher values than their corresponding control group (17 ± 6 mE/L, p = 0.002).
