After baicalin treatment of CRC cells, reduced levels of endogenous protein expression and phosphorylation of TGF-1, Smad2/3, and Smad4 along with elevated of endogenous TGFβ1, Smad2/3, and Smad4, and increased protein expression of Smad7 were detected, indicating that baicalin inhibition of the EMT of cells may be associated with suppression of the TGFβ/Smad signaling pathway in CRC cells (Yang et al., 2020). Here, SMAD7 is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
