In the present work, we have identified (R)-ASME as a multi-target ligand, potentially useful in counteracting neurodegenerative diseases, characterized by closely related mechanisms of action: the ability to act on the HuD/BDNF cascade and to activate the ubiquitin–proteasome system, two orthogonal mechanisms that may act in an additive/synergistic manner. This evidence concerns the gene ELAVL4 and neurodegenerative disease.
