We found that lifestyle changes, followed, if necessary, by metformin, to reduce demand for post-meal insulin release, then by a long-acting GLP-1 analogue to suppress exaggerated or fluctuating endogenous GLP-1 and, hence, insulin responses, and, finally, by a FreeStyle Libre-2 sensor with an alarm function to warn of impending hypoglycaemia, were effective. The gene discussed is GLP1R; the disease is Hypoglycemia.
