In CSF, NTA-tau concentrations were significantly higher in Creutzfeldt-Jakob’s disease and acute neurological diseases (e.g. ischemic stroke) than in AD [18], and therefore it is feasible to hypothesize that the observed increases in CSF may translate also to plasma measurements in more acute neurological conditions, although none of these are expected to be confounded with AD’s clinical presentation. This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Creutzfeldt Jacob disease.
