In patients with and without diabetes, individuals with overweight and obesity (BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2) were consistently characterized by younger age, a higher proportion of male individuals, higher albumin and triglyceride levels, and lower HDL-C levels, compared with those who had normal weight (BMI 18.5–24.9 kg/m2, P < 0.05, Table 1). The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is diabetes mellitus.
