There was a reduction in Th1 and Th17 signature cytokines (IFNγ, IL-17, and IL-23) in the SPE1 and SPE2 groups; however, the pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, and TNFα) showed similarly high levels in the sera of all experimental groups which could be due to the fact that the sera were collected only at the end of the experiment when all mice had already severe arthritis. This evidence concerns the gene IL17A and arthritic joint disease.
