The following are the diagnostic criteria for neonatal lupus erythematosus: Congenital heart blocks in a newborn with positive maternal and/or neonatal anti-Ro/SSA and/or anti-La/SSB antibodies; the presence of skin lesions associated with NLE as determined by a dermatologist and/or histopathologist in a newborn with positive maternal and/or neonatal anti-Ro/SSA and/or anti-La/SSB antibodies. The gene discussed is SSB; the disease is neonatal lupus erythematosus.
