IL10 and atherosclerosis: We resolved expected subsets not yet reported in single-cell biology studies of human atherosclerosis, that is, HMOX1+ macrophages sharing features with previously described populations in murine plaques28,29,46, a mature cDC2 cluster previously identified in cancer20 expressing a plethora of immune checkpoints with a role in atherogenesis47,48, AXL and SIGLEC6 (AS)-expressing DCs21, and IL-10+/TNFAIP3+ MNPs expressing both extracellular (IL-10) and intracellular (A20) means to antagonize NF-κB-driven inflammation and atherogenesis45,47.
