Hepatic transporters are implicated in the mechanisms of cholestasis (Trauner et al., 1998; Marcelo et al., 2008; Klaassen and Aleksunes, 2010), including sodium-taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide (NTCP, SLC10A1/Slc10a1) (Trauner et al., 2017) and Organic anion transporting polypeptide (OATP), multidrug resistance associated protein (MRP2) and canalicular bile salt export pump (BSEP) (Soroka and Boyer, 2014; Remetic et al., 2022). This evidence concerns the gene ABCC2 and cholestasis.
