POU2F3 and benign neoplasm: Although POU2F3-positivity might also indicate benign tumors, considering the significantly higher frequency in benign tumors, the facts that even aggressive salivary gland tumors can harbor POU2F3-positive, possibly tuft cells, and that tumor-associated tuft cells can influence cancer aggressiveness through paracrine mechanisms [45], POU2F3-positivity may provide new translational perspectives on the role of tuft cells in malignant salivary and nonsalivary tumors, rather than diagnostic aid.
