In previous animal studies, a hot water extract of C. longa containing turmeronols A and B and bisacurone (22) not only inhibited the mRNA expression of inflammatory mediators, including IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, and inducible NO synthase (iNOS), but also ameliorated various inflammatory pathologies in mouse models, such as ethanol-induced liver injury and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (36). This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
