Despite this possible blockade of the EPO-EPOR system in bone marrow by anti-EPOR antibodies, we found consistent beneficial effects of SGLT2 inhibitors on hemoglobin, hematocrit, and incident anemia in anti-EPOR antibodies positive and negative individuals, suggesting that anti-EPOR antibodies do not alter observed beneficial effects of canagliflozin on fluid volume and iron homeostasis.14 The gene discussed is EPOR; the disease is anemia.
