In this regard, MerTK expression is broadly abnormal in a large variety of CNS disorders including adrenoleukodystrophy, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), alcohol dependence, Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, major depressive disorder, neuroblastoma, obsessive compulsive disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and schizophrenia (Fig. 3H). The gene discussed is MERTK; the disease is juvenile Huntington disease.
