Treatment of Chronic Lymphocytic Lymphoma (CLL) cells with pyrimethamine was shown to decrease expression of STAT3 signature genes (AIM2, ATXN1, ENPP2, GAB1, and ID3) that previously exhibited higher expression in CLL cells compare to healthy B lymphocytes [186]. The gene discussed is ATXN1; the disease is B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
