Apparently, a single initiator mutation in one of four genes (GNAQ, GNA11, PCLB2 and CYSLTR2) is sufficient to yield a tumor that, upon acquisition of an additional mutation in the genes BAP1, a tumor suppressor gene, or SF3B1, a splice factor gene, and cytogenetic alterations, will progress to metastasis [13,14,15]. This evidence concerns the gene BAP1 and neoplasm.
