The roles of GCs and their receptors, including the glucocorticoids receptor (GR, low affinity) and mineralocorticoid receptor (MR, high affinity), in the CNS neurons have been discussed since several neurobiological changes (genetic, epigenetic, molecular, and cellular levels) caused by released GCs/receptors under chronic stress are closely associated with negative consequences, including psychiatric disorders. Here, NR3C1 is linked to psychiatric disorder.
