Most importantly, a significant G × E interaction was seen in subchronic PCP-treated Kpna1 KO mice, which exhibited a significant increase in locomotion in the OFT (10 min, 60 min) and Y-maze, a measure which has been established as a model for the positive symptoms of schizophrenia11, suggesting that this subchronic PCP-treated Kpna1 KO mice can be used as a model for assessing schizophrenia-related behavioral abnormalities. This evidence concerns the gene KPNA1 and schizophrenia.
