Importantly, in our previous work and in this study, we have identified novel host cell factors implicated in two of these steps, namely the actin regulator Arpin, which is crucial for efficient phagocytosis and bacterial uptake (Jubrail et al, 2020), and the ARL5b which is induced by the infection and prevents phagosome maturation and bacterial clearance. This evidence concerns the gene ARL5B and infection.
