Supported by the data in the literature relating to the ability of GH and IGF-1 to stimulate the cells of the innate and adaptive immunity and the consequent production of cytokines, we previously started a pilot study to evaluate the microvascular profile and proinflammatory state of patients with acromegaly through the analysis of a marker that has recently acquired interest due to its important role in triggering a proinflammatory state: IL33. The gene discussed is IL33; the disease is acromegaly.
