Currently, there are three European Medicines Agency (EMA)-approved drugs for the long-term management of obesity in Germany: the lipase inhibitor Orlistat (Xenical®), the GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RA) liraglutide 3 mg once daily (Saxenda®) and semaglutide 2.4 mg once weekly (Wegovy®). Here, GLP1R is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
