IL6 and Parkinson disease: Importantly, the blockade of IL-6 signaling prevented the appearance of the typical signs of neurodegeneration in ACM-treated neurons (Figure 4, F–I; P < 0.01 and P < 0.001), thus reinforcing the idea that IL-6 is one of the major mediators of astrocyte-dependent neurotoxic factors that play a role in the pathogenesis of PD.
