Inhibition of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) using monoclonal antibodies has been shown to lower LDL-C levels by approximately 60% and to reduce the risk of major ASCVD events across a wide range of different patient populations in clinical trials, when used in monotherapy or in addition to other lipid-lowering therapy (LLT) (4–7). This evidence concerns the gene PCSK9 and atherosclerosis.
