GAD1 and temporal lobe epilepsy: Although some case series showed a lower prevalence of epilepsy at follow-up visits,23, 24only patients with encephalitis related to antibodies against an intracellular antigen or patients without autoantibody identification survived in our sample, conditions associated with a worse prognosis.16, 23In a retrospective cohort of temporal lobe epilepsy patients with anti-GAD limbic encephalitis presentation, Joubert et al. (2020)30stated that only 33% were seizure-free at the end of outpatient follow-up (average of 49 months).
