A study by Kotake et al. [24] has reported that low levels of NO formed by NOS1, triggers cell proliferation primarily via the soluble guanylate cyclase-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (sGC-cGMP) dependent mechanism, and NOS1 was also observed to be aberrantly expressed in glioma [25]. This evidence concerns the gene SGCB and central nervous system cancer.
