On contrast, Yu et al., and Liu et al., have reported that METTL3 destabilizes PD-L1 mRNA in an m6A-dependent manner and mediates ubiquitin-dependent proteasomal degradation of PD-L1 proteins through the circIGF2BP3/PKP3 axis in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) (35, 36) Despite the effects of METTL3 on PD-L1 expression is controversial, all of the above research demonstrate that inhibiting METTL3 enhances the treatment efficacy of anti-PD-1 therapy, suggesting that unknown mechanisms warrant further investigation (24, 26, 35, 36).
