PRKG1 and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1B: Pharmacologically raising cGMP, and thus activating PKG, stimulates phosphorylation of a 26S proteasome component that is presently unidentified, activates the 26S proteasomes, and has therapeutic effects in zebrafish models of tauopathy (VerPlank et al, 2020) and the S63del mouse model of CMT1B (VerPlank et al, 2022).
