Numerous hypermethylated genes, including BMP3, CDKN2A, FGF5, hMLH1, MGMT, NDRG4, NPY, PDX1, SDC2, SEPT9, SFRP2, TFPI2, and VIM, have been analyzed in fecal DNA for CRC early detection2,4 (Table 1). The gene discussed is VIM; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
