MAPT and Alzheimer disease: Although the amygdala is typically known to modulate anxiety [54, 55] and aggression [56] in AD, the association between p-tau in the amygdala and reported functional impairment aligns with past research that showed the degree of amygdala atrophy in AD is associated with severity of cognitive impairment [54].Our findings highlight p-tau pathology in the amygdala as another potential contributing factor to cognitive symptoms in TES.
