This was accomplished by inhibiting the activation of ERK and NF-κB, decreasing the expression of CYP2E1, reducing inflammatory foci, reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines, and increasing nuclear NF-E2-related factor-2 (Nrf2) and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) expression, suggesting that lycopene and tomato extract can inhibit MASH-HCC by reducing oxidative stress (Wang et al., 2010).
