Malignancies in several tissues, such as the lung, breast, and thyroid, have been linked to the amplification of FOX genes.6 FOX genes act downstream of several oncogenic signaling pathways, including PI3K–AKT, ERK, Wnt, β-catenin, EGFR, and NF-κB-IKKβ, associated with CRC cancerogenesis.7 The clinical results of cancer patients are strongly correlated with deregulated FOX genes. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and cancer.
