After excluding overlapping KORA S4 participants from the KORA-Age1 sample, eight proteins (C-X-C motif chemokine 9 [CXCL9], interleukin-2 receptor subunit alpha [IL-2RA], follistatin [FS], matrix metalloproteinase-12 [MMP-12], hepatocyte growth factor [HGF], oncostatin-M [OSM], TNFRSF9, and scavenger receptor cysteine-rich type 1 protein M130 [CD163]) lost significance after multiple testing regarding their association with incident CHD (see Supplementary Table 4, Additional file 2). Here, MMP12 is linked to coronary artery disorder.
