GHOST deep learning-based histomorphometrics on histopathological scoring variables supported complete reversal of hepatic lipid accumulation (% of hepatocytes with lipid droplets, %-area of lipids) and markedly reduced inflammation (foci/mm2, %-area of galectin-3) after 8 weeks of chow reversal in GAN DIO-NASH mice, with no further improvements in these endpoints after prolonged chow reversal (Figs. 3 and 4). Here, LGALS3 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
