MTOR and tuberculosis: Previous investigations into the role of mTOR in mycobacterial infection have uncovered a protective role for decreased mTOR signalling through improving mycobacterial killing (Zullo & Lee, 2012; Zullo et al, 2014), so that mTOR inhibitors, such as rapamycin, were considered potential host-directed therapies for the treatment of tuberculosis (Singh & Subbian, 2018).
