One of the lncRNAs most highly induced on chromatin when replication stress was inflicted with hydroxyurea was the lncRNA ENSG00000253878 (Figs. 1c, 2a–c, Supplementary Fig. 2a, b), which had previously been identified as a p53-regulated lncRNA in lung cancer cells21, and which from now on will be referred to as lncREST (long non-coding RNA REplication STress). The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is lung carcinoma.
