Whereas PKCε tumorigenic function does not seem to rely primarily on transcriptional mechanisms in nonsmall lung adenocarcinoma (128), this kinase activates tumorigenic transcriptional programs in models of prostate cancer, particularly in cooperation with the loss of the tumor suppressor phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) (a common genetic alteration in prostate cancer) (129). This evidence concerns the gene PTEN and prostate cancer.
