Recent studies have highlighted the potential utility of novel inflammatory biomarkers, including the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), platelet/ neutrophil ratio (PNR), systemic immune-inflammatory (SII) index, prognostic nutritional index (PNI), C-reactive protein (CRP)/lymphocyte ratio (CLR), CRP/albumin ratio (CAR), and multi-inflammatory index (MII) as valuable indicators for diagnosing and predicting the prognosis of different infectious diseases, including COVID-19 infection [6-8]. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and infectious disease.
